Abstract
In order to examine the difference between emotional regulation and conflict resolution style, 294 college students were grouped and classified into three groups (Repressive, Honest, and Conflicted) based on their emotional awareness clarity (EC) and ambivalence over emotional expression (AE). The results concerning emotional regulation style, members in Honest group were high on active regulation and support-seeking styles, whereas those in the Repressed and Conflicted groups were high on avoidant and distractive regulation style. Regarding conflict resolution styles, compromising-collaborating was the most commonly used in the Honest group, while avoidance was most prevalent in the Repressed and Conflicted groups. The obliging style was the highest in the Repressed group. The implication, limitations and suggestions for follow-up study were also elaborated.
